My name is Erica Hoxsey and I was born in Upland, California. I moved to Antioch, a small town in northern California when I was five years old and went to elementary school there. Before I started middle school I moved to Columbus, Georgia I went to middle school and spent my freshman year of high school at Columbus High School, a public liberal arts magnet. My sophomore year I moved to Murrieta and graduated from Murrieta Valley High School in 2004, it’s a small town but my graduating class was almost 1,000 students. This is my second semester at CSUSM I went to San Diego State my first two years of college.
I’ve always been a PC person but after having several problems with my Dell notebook and I’m looking into getting a Mac. I’ve never used a Mac computer before taking this class. I don’t think I realize how much I depend on technology throughout the day; I just wish I knew more than the basic features. I also wish I knew how to fix my computer when it breaks; my parents always come to me when they have problems with their computer for some reason but I don’t have a clue. I just got a digital camera for Christmas so I’m learning all the different settings on my camera and I started work on Photoshop a little bit.
The College of Education Mission Statement is very powerful the part that struck me the most was the first sentence, “The mission of the College of Education community is to collaboratively transform public education by preparing thoughtful educators and advancing professional practices.” I feel that overtime the needs and expectations of students have changed drastically and it seems that schools try to tweak the educational system to meet the needs instead of transforming it to better serve the students.
